Woman arrested at quarry with drugs

Visible policing in Green Point led to an arrest and the confiscation of 2kg of drugs.

The Green Point and Oranje-Kloof City Improvement Districts (GP/OKCID) arranged for 20 newly qualified law enforcement members from the City to be deployed throughout Green Point and the Oranje-Kloof CID area, working alongside the GP/OKCID team as they went about their daily duties on Thursday last week.

This was initiated to boost visible policing in the area and educate the new recruits as to the workings and activities that typically take place in these bustling environments.

During this deployment strategy, the members paid a visit to the quarry on Strand Street. A female law enforcement officer searched a female suspect coming out of the toilets at the quarry on instruction from the GP/OKCID operations manager. She was arrested for carrying a kilogram bag of tik and a kilogram bag of heroine, confirmed GP/OKCID security manager Marius Swanepoel.

“This type of proactive crime prevention is incredibly effective, and made possible because of the strong partnership between our team and law enforcement.

“We plan to continue with regular joint operations to make our areas safer for residents and businesses alike,” he says
