Woman hijacked in front of school

2015-09-22 06:00

A mother has been hijacked at Alicedale Primary School on Tuesday last week while picking up her daughter after school.

Athlone police say the incident ocurred at 13:15 when two men in a white Volkswagen Caddy bakkie first drove past the victim’s vehicle before proceeding to park behind her.

One of the men then got out the bakkie and approached the 46-year-old woman’s vehicle and knocked on her driver’s window with his elbow, demanding that she get out.

After refusing to adhere to the request, the suspect then took out his firearm and cocked it, pointing it at her, after which she got out of the Volkswagen Polo before being hit on the head with the suspect’s firearm.

The man then got into the women’s vehicle and sped away, followed by the bakkie, which did not have valid registration plates.V
