World sounds in city

2015-07-14 06:01

The City Hall is the venue for this year’s Cape Town Nu World Festival. The concert is a celebration of the shared enjoyment of inspiring live music.

The festival, previously known as the World Music Festival, features 25 acts on three stages for two days.

Some of the musicians and industry innovators will present short talks on Saturday.

Ernest Sonnenberg, acting mayoral committee member for tourism, events and economic development, says: “The Cape Town Nu World Festival is a much anticipated musical event on the events calendar. This musical journey features something for everyone – from jazz to electronic sounds.

“It is a reflection of the diversity of the city and music’s ability to unite people. We’re proud to be a supporter of the festival.”

This year’s line-up includes Simphiwe Dana, Kanda Bongo Man (from the DRC), Mokoomba (Zimbabwe), Dunkelbunt (Austria), Majozi, Elemotho (Namibia), Özlem Bulut (Turkey and Austria), Native Young, Tcheka (Cape Verde) and Derek Gripper, Thris and Blackfoot Phoenix, Zuko Collective, Bateleur, Vukazithathe, Card on Spokes, Toby2shoes, Spoek vs Spoko and Wasgoedlyn.

The festival will take place on Friday and Saturday. One-day passes and full weekend passes are available at or www.webtickets.
