The Spur Schools Moutain Bike League is gaining momentum in the Western Cape with record participation and more schools from across the region competing.

The third event of the season will be hosted at Montana High School in Worcester on Saturday at their brand new mountain bike track. Custom designed by Meurant Botha of Amarider – a national trails advocacy organsisation aimed at improving and promoting trail opportunities around Southern Africa, the track will likely strengthen Montana’s foothold in the league. Montana is currently lying third overall, second in the women’s category and fourth in the men’s category.

Online entry forms can be downloaded at and can be faxed to 086 547 7886, e-mailed to or handed in at registration on race day from 08:30. The entry fee of R50 for primary school riders and R60 for high school riders is payable at registration or via EFT. Banking details can be found on the website.

Registration opens at 08:30 and course practice commences; sub-nippers (ages 7-8) at 09:30; Nipper Boys (9-10) at 10:00; Nipper Girls (9-10) at 10:05; Sprog Boys (11–12) at 10:30; Sprog Girls (11 –12) at 10:35; Sub-Junior Boys (13) at 11:00; Sub-Junior Girls (13) at 11:05; Sub-Junior Boys (14) at 12:15; Youth Men B (16) at 12:45; Youth Men A (15) at 13:20; Girls (14-18) at 14:00 and Junior Men (17-18) at 14:45.V
