Your clean car can give others a fresh start

2015-10-13 06:00

The Carpenter’s Shop (TCS) – a non-profit organisation in the heart of the city – is celebrating changing seasons, fresh beginnings and its blossoming social enterprises with the launch of a new car wash campaign, called #CleanCarNewStart.

A campaign of the car wash, a social enterprise of TCS based in Roeland Street, provides significant income for the organisation and effective vocational training for a large number of homeless and unemployed people with low levels of literacy.

The aim of the campaign is to wash and polish at least 20 cars a day from this month to make it in to a sustainable business.

All funds generated will go towards the organisation’s vocational training needs.

“The objective of this campaign is threefold: Build awareness of this socially responsible service that everyone in our city should be taking advantage of, increase the number of cars washed per day to cover costs and ensure that the service is sustainable and generate much-needed income for the organisation so we can continue to train more unemployed people,” says James Macdonald, TCS business and social enterprise manager.

An incentive for clients is a limited-edition loyalty voucher, which will be given to car wash clients during the campaign. The voucher entitles clients to a free polish and vacuum after they have had their car washed 10 times.

“We all need some sprucing up at summer time and our cars are no exception. Getting your car wash at TCS is a no-brainer – you get a great deal, an exceptional car wash in line with any business and you are contributing to an unemployed individual’s first steps to financial independence,” says marketing manager Jane Mills.

Clients can make online bookings on www.tcs.org.za or give a voucher to a friend
