Where Rainbows Meet Training & Development Foundation in Capricorn dedicated its Valentine’s Day event to over 30 families from Overcome Heights who lost their homes with all their belongings in a recent fire.

Fatiema Abrahams, organisation fundraiser/marketing and events manager, said the day was filled with love, happiness, laughter, excitement and entertainment to uplift these families’ spirits and warm their hearts. “There were competitions to participate in, gifts to be won, stories to be shared, food and refreshments to enjoy. Every man was blessed with a rose to give to his partner, every woman blessed with a love poem written of free will to express their feelings to their one true love. Many of them don’t have the opportunity to celebrate such a day as this one, no matter how small or simple it may be to others ... it makes a huge difference in the lives of those who have been through so much social difficulties, who face the daily struggles of rebuilding and striving for what they once had before the fires,” she said.

Abrahams said they ended off with singing and dancing to celebrate the day.

“We had to remind our couples that no matter what life throws your way, you will be okay as long as you have your loved ones and people who care. The foundation will always be there, the foundation will always care for its community, and the foundation is all about celebrating love and life,’’ she said.
