About QR codes

2017-09-26 06:01

A QR code is a machine-readable code consisting of an array of black and white squares that are used to store useful information like website addresses, contact cards, e-mail addresses, etc.

Once you get the hang of it, QR Codes will save you a lot of time and effort, especially when you can scan a QR code instead of having to type in a long website URL.

To be able to scan a QR code you first need to download a QR code reader on your smart phone/device. These are mostly free and no registration is needed.

To scan, open the QR Code reader on your phone and hold your device over a QR Code so that it’s clearly visible within your smartphone’s screen.

In most cases, the phone automatically scans the code. Some readers may require you to press a button to snap a picture (same as when you take a photo).

Presto! Your smartphone reads the code and navigates to the intended destination. This may take a few seconds, depending on your device and internet speed. – (Google, QR Codes for Dummies)
