An Eastridge teen turned into Cinderella for the evening thanks to the contribution of everyday fairy godmothers.

Tamarin May got to experience her matric ball in style last week when several parties came together to sponsor her evening – from head to toe.

“I can’t wait to see myself dressed,” she said ahead of her big reveal.

Dressed in a bespoke gown with hair and make-up to the nines, her excitement was palpable.

Rulene Africa, one of the sponsors, says it was very short notice.

“The alumni class of 1987 were discussing the 2016 Matric Ball. Some of the others sponsored three other children at the school last year, and I wanted to do so again this year. I thought everyone was already sorted not knowing there was someone who wasn’t. I wanted someone deserving and someone who would appreciate it,” says Africa.

May is a grade 12 pupil at Beacon Hill High School.

The school hosted their Matric Ball on Tuesday 2 August at Parow Civic Centre.

The sponsorship included hair, makeup, accessories, dress and transport that was made possible by Rhema Family Church in Africa, Shireen Conradie and Liz Couture Creations.

Africa, who will be emigrating later this year, hopes to continue the Cinderella Project in Mitchell’s Plain while abroad.
