Arrests in special police operation

Police held a special integrated operation on Thursday last week from 12:00 to 22:00, which included officers from the Visible Policing, Flying Squad, Detectives, Crime Intelligence and Border Police and National Intervention units.

Operations were focused on the execution of search warrants, the searching of wanted suspects, high-density patrols and visible policing, as well as stop-and­searches.

Police made arrests for drugs, shoplifting and illegal immigration. Traffic fines were also issued to the value of R15 000.

A total of 14 people were arrested in Lentegeur, Steenberg, Westridge, Eastridge and Tafelsig. FThe arrests included a 24-year-old man who was arrested for possession of five mandrax tablets in Bien Donne Street, Westridge. A 17-year-old youth was arrested after being found in possession of a small plastic bag containing dagga and a rolled paper dagga cigarette in Zebra Crescent, ­East­ridge­­­.Two suspects aged 38 and 45 were arrested for shoplifting after they were caught on camera at a store in the City Centre­.
