Officials from the City of Cape Town's Fire and Rescue services department has confirmed that arson is the suspected cause of the fire at Silverstream High School on Saturday (20 May).

According to a report from Fire and Rescue Services spokesperson, Tracey Whittaker, three classrooms were destroyed in the fire which started just after noon. She says 20 firefighters in six firefighting vehicles responded.

“No injuries or fatalities were reported and  a fire investigator has been dispatched to the scene," she said on Saturday.

Responding to People’s Post's enquiry today (22 May), Whittaker says officials suspect arson, but the report on the incident has not been finalised.
