Despite making five errors, Athlone A’s secured an 8-5 win against Westridge Yankees at Stephen Reagon sports ground on Saturday.

The consistent pitching performance by Carl Michaels (4), Cameron Fortuin (3) and Lloyd Stevens (2), supported by a good display by the top four hitters of A’s – PJ Abrahams (2/5), Matthew Diedericks (3/5), Darren Wedel (2/5) and Aiden O’Connor (3/4) – helped A’s pave the way for victory.

Yankees, who were without the Ripepi brothers, were unable to push home a 4-3 lead. The lead exchanged hands on two occasions before A’s secured the win.

Luwayne du Plessis pitched all nine innings. Kyle Titus (2/4) and Jared du Plessis (2/5) were the Yankees’ best hitters.
