A screening of The Adventures of Supermama will be held at Simon’s Town community hall in celebration of Women’s Month on Saturday 10 August. The Adventures of Supermama, is a comedy, action-adventure and features some great stunt and fight sequences, while amusingly tackling South Africa’s real social challenges. “This movie shows that every girl can do this,” said Supermama actress, Nomsa Buthelezi at the premiere which was held in Johannesburg in June. Director Karen van Schalkwyk said: “It has been the culmination of many years of hard work. It was great fun making this film with such a talented cast and crew. It is fantastic that Supermama can finally have a life of her own and get out there into the world. It will be great for the community to have the opportunity to see the film.”She added that she is thrilled that the audience will have the opportunity to see the film in her hometown and mentioned that the film was well-received at various festivals and on the circuit.The movie stars an A-list cast including entertainer Desmond Dube, Michael Mabizela and Siyabonga Mtshali. The cast also includes newcomers’; martial arts expert Leo Ming and Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) heavyweight Bernardo Mikixi.The movie has been screened at the Cape Town International Film Festival, Durban International Film Festival, Jozi Film Festival as well as The Africa Film Trinidad & Tobago 2019. The Adventures of Supermama was also nominated for Best Comedy of the Year at the African Movie Academy Awards 2018.Prices for children are R25 and adults are R40.
