Barbers show off their skills

The second annual Barbercraft Men’s Lifestyle and Grooming expo was held at the Cape Town Castle of Good Hope on Sunday­.

The expo had exhibits from local barber brands, stalls where barbers and spectators could learn more about grooming trends and view tutorials on styling.

The event was also featured a competition that crowned the barber of the year, with other categories such as the classic cut, the creative and a pattern challenge.

The competition was open to beginners and master barbers all competing for various prizes. The event is an international initiative born in New Zealand.

The South African leg was sponsored by Wahl SA, Reuzel and Blue Beards Revenge.

For the classic category, the junior winner was Amien Hare, the open winner was Hadley Block and the master winner was Viggo von Scheliha.

In the creative round, the open winner was Hadley Block with the Master being Viggo von Scheliha.

The beard round open winner was Chezlyn Fortuin with the master winner being Garland Lamore. The pattern challenge open winner was Cheslyn Fortuin and the master winner was Hadley Block.

The shave challenge open winner was Hadley Block and the master winner was Shiraaz Lawrence.

Chazlynn Kruger was crowned Wahl South Africa Barber of the Year 2018.

Barbers came from far and wide to compete in the challenge.
