This past weekend saw Cape Town Baseball Federation wrap up 2018 with a doubleheader fixture in the Major League competition.Maitland Giants, who had only one defeat, lost both their games 11-1 and 16-3 to Bellville Tygers and Bothasig Knights respectively. Bothasig remains unbeaten as they beat Helderberg Pirates 15-4 on Saturday. Durbanville Villains had a good weekend securing both wins, 15-0 against Grassy Park Crusaders on Saturday and 18-9 over Pirates on Sunday. Battswood was another team who came good at the weekend, beating Milnerton Mavericks 18-5 on Saturday and then recovered from a 0-11 deficit to beat Thistle 15-14 on Sunday.Athlone A’s beat Thistle 11-1 on Saturday and travelled to Stellenbosch on Sunday to secure a 9-5 victory over Van Der Stel. Van Der Stel beat Westridge Yankees 14-3 on Saturday, with Yankees also losing 10-6 to Vob Macaws on Sunday.Bellville Tygers destroyed Milnerton Mavericks 36-0 on Sunday.Baseball resumes on the weekend of the 5th and 6th January 2019 with a double header. After these games teams will be split into a top six, Major League A Division, and a bottom seven, Major League B Division for the rest of the season.
