Battswood Baseball Club will be hosting a baseball youth friendship series at the Chukker Road Sports Complex in Kenwyn on Sunday 25 September.

“We anticipate having 10 teams entered with approximately 150 junior players, 300 parents and spectators as well. In order to facilitate the safety of the participants at this event, we request assistance to ensure the success of the event. Our current requirements are to provide entertainment and motivation to the youth in order to inspire them to reach their potential in achieving their dreams in this trying socio-economic conditions we are faced with,” states Deidré Marquard.

Each player will also be provided with a goodie bag, medal and certificate which will be branded with the necessary sponsor details. “Our club’s aim is to promote the sport of baseball. We can all make a difference by keeping our kids off the street in doing sport instead. We believe in uplifting previous disadvantaged communities and have a partnership with schools in Phillipi currently to ensure we reach our goal by doing as such,” Marquard adds.

The club will ensure that all players from those areas are picked up and dropped using club funds generated by members, a testament to the hard work, dedication and commitment for all those who love the sport.

“It is imperative that we endeavour to have a highly successful event as planned and would like to engage in a future partnership in making a difference.”

She adds that they have secured live broadcasting of the event on radio as well as a promotional video by popular local comedian Devon Saunders.
