Donate a book and help Woodside Special Care Centre in Rondebosch East make ends meet.

The centre is looking for books to sell at its book stall at the Cavendish Square charity book sale in Claremont, taking place from Thursday 23 to Sunday 26 August.

Drop-offs can be made at 29 Lawson Road. At the moment the centre has a partnership with Mpact Recycling, which is helping the it raise much-needed funds.

Last week Mpact representatives, with the assistance of local residents, collected recyclable material free of charge as part of their 67 minutes Mandela Day project.

The centre uses recycling and donations as their sources of income. They accept paper, cardboard and both clear and blue plastic water bottles for recycling.

The recycling area is open from 06.00 to 19.00.

Clive Obery, marketer and fundraiser at the centre, says they have a mutually beneficial relationship with Mpact and are grateful to receive their assistance with setting up the recycling project.

Woodside Special Care Centre welcomes help from any individuals or companies willing to make a difference.

The centre currently has 78 residents between the ages of seven and 50 with profound physical and intellectual disabilities. It has a dedicated team of staff that provides excellent care and therapy to the residents.

They also host various local and international volunteer and training programmes at the centre.

Angela Raynardt from Mpact says they understand the value of the services offered at the centre.

“Woodside is doing an excellent job by helping their profoundly disabled residents.

“We were happy to be able to give our time together with the extra hands from their neighbours in Rondebosch East who joined us in bringing their recyclable material to the centre.”

Raynardt says this was one of many projects in which MPact is involved with the aim of uplifting communities.’’V For more information about donations, contact Clive Obery on 021 696 2811 or email
