A suspected burglar was arrested at the Oranjezicht property he was trying to steal from last week.Fidelity ADT armed response officer Cornelius van Nooi visited the address in Huguenot Avenue on Saturday morning, to look in on a suspicious person who had been noticed on the property. “When our officer arrived at the address, a nurse who was working at the house told him that she had seen an unidentified man on the property. Our officer searched the premises and found the man, and ordered him to surrender before handcuffing him,” says Jade Hanning, Fidelity ADT’s Cape Town South district manager.On further investigation, Van Nooi found a broken window and two black bags, apparently filled with stolen items, says Hanning. “Our client and the police soon also arrived at the property. The suspect was taken into custody while the client opened a charge of theft and housebreaking.”Cape Town Central police spokesperson Captain Ezra October confirms the incident, saying a “suspect was arrested by security personnel thanks to employee vigilance”. “We recommend that all staff working at your property be well informed regarding security measures,” he adds.
