A MyCiTi bus driver has been acknowledged for going about the call of duty – by returning a purse filled with valuables to the owner.

Mayco member for transport and urban development Brett Herron handed over a certificate to driver Siphelo Maqhubela on Wednesday 20 June.

Maqhubela stopped the bus he drives when he spotted a purse lying on the side of the road.

After checking the ID document inside, Maqhubela asked one of the passengers to look up the owner on Facebook. He returned the purse on the same day.
