A tip-off over drugs and guns has led to the arrest of five people in Beacon Valley.

According to a report from provincial police, at about 13:00 on Tuesday (14 February) Mitchell’s Plain police received information about a firearm at a house in Korfball Street.

Police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk says during a search of the property officers found a 7.65 mm firearm and seven dagga cigarettes hidden in a cupboard.

Four women and a man aged between 25 and 31 were arrested and are due to appear in the Mitchell's Plain Magistrate’s Court on Friday 17 February on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of drugs.
