Join the eMzantsi carnival and community building project in celebrating Women’s Day in Scarborough.eMzantsi is hosting a free local showcase of dance, DJs, singers, rappers and a taste of carnival featuring Wireless Cowgirl and Zinzi (aka Dizaster). But it’s not only about the girls – comedian The Blacksmith hosts the event, with performances from Red Hill’s Anele ‘Rhazo’ Jim and Ocean View’s MWP. Catch the diverse talent and creativity of the south peninsula on Tuesday 9 August at the Scarborough Community Hall, Watsonia Road.Activities start at 11:00 and the stage show runs from 11:30 to 14:00.The Women’s Day showcase is the third in a series of eMzantsi commemorative day events this year in the run-up to the annual “rolling carnival”.It’s an opportunity for people to find out how they can get involved in eMzantsi Carnival, lend a hand and participate in the annual parade and stage show on Heritage Day, in Red Hill.This year’s carnival theme “Hilltopia” brings together Scarborough and Red Hill with a vision of a community built on common ground, that has a green heart, where people are switched on and share a positive outlook; living on the edge of change. The eMzantsi Office, now in the Work For Love complex on Lekkerwater Road, Sunnydale, invites peninsula groups to participate in the carnival.
