The St Kizito’s Children’s Group based at the parish of St Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Lentegeur, celebrated their 10th anniversary on Saturday 14 July.

Isabel Oliver, the facilitator of the group, said at the event that with 15 volunteers, they now take care of 58 children, coming from areas such as Lentegeur, Beacon Valley, Woodlands, Heinz Park and Mandalay.
“The group regularly cares for children by taking them on excursions, providing meals and parties as well as the annual Secret Santa Box, where parishioners are given a name of a child with an age group, to fill the box with toiletries, a gift and school stationery,” said the organisers in a statement.

The group celebrated their anniversary with a dinner for volunteers and benefactors who regularly assist with transport or necessary help.

Archdiocese of Cape Town facilitator, Wayne Golding opened proceedings and thanked the group for their perseverance and determination to continue taking care of the children.

The parish priest, Reverend Father Brandon West, blessed the group with prayer and said grace over the food that had been prepared.
