A celebrity challenge to save water has earned the Childhood Cancer Foundation (Choc) in Sybrand Park three free JoJo tanks. A handover ceremony was held on Wednesday 4 July where the tanks were installed at the organisation’s Sybrand Road premises.

The organisation, which serves children with cancer, was nominated by actress and TV personality Bonnie Mbuli, after she claimed top spot by saving 500F of water during a two-week Domestos Flush Less Challenge.

During the contest, four celebrities where challenged to see how long they could go without flushing their toilets, with the help of a Domestos fresh-smelling and odour-killing spray.

The goal of the challenge was to see which celebrity could save the most water by flushing their toilet less then usual.

Celebrities to join in on the challenge included Leigh-Anne Williams who saved 441F of water, Rob van Vuuren who saved 400F water and Yaaseen Barnes who saved 201 of water.

Ant Borstlap, the senior brand manager of Domestos, said in a statement that the celebrities showed the efficacy of their product when they had to face urine odour head on, and he is pleased that the challenge created awareness about how flushing less can effectively save water.

Choc’s regional manager for the Western Cape, Lynette Muthuray, said the JoJo tank couldn’t have come at a better time.

“The accommodation in Sybrand Park urgently needed a JoJo tank. We wanted to buy one but we were unable to fund it.

“Thank you, Bonnie, for selecting us, and to Domestos, this challenge was inspirational and educational, and it was amazing to see the innovative spray at work,” she added.
