Christel House in Ottery were the recipients of new soccer equipment and school shoes recently. The donation, provided by Jet stores, forms part of the clothing retailer’s “Share the Warmth” programme to support charities in need. The donation included two soccer posts, a scoreboard and a brand-new pair of school shoes for each of the 750 students enrolled at Christel House.

To inaugurate their new soccer equipment, the Christel House students played a match against Jet staff.

Rosco Hendricks, sports master at Christel House, said they are truly thankful for the new soccer equipment.

He added that their students have a lot of talent and donations like these motivate them to compete more at professional level. He added that the students are excited to put some points on the new scoreboard. Lithemba B, a Grade 4 learner, presented Brad Martin, divisional operations manager at Jet, with a specially designed Christel House T-shirt as a token of appreciation from the school.

“We are enormously grateful to have received this generous donation from Jet. Our students now have brand-new pairs of school shoes to get them through this academic year.

“At Christel House, we are committed to building character, confidence and dignity for every child through the programmes and services we offer. This amazing sponsorship will make all the difference to our students,” says Carol Kriel, Principal of the Junior School at Christel House.
