Upgrades to Mediclinic Constantiaberg are underway to make the facility more user friendly and accessible .The work is divided according to facilities and the overall upgrades are expected to be completed in 2019. The first facility has been completed and is operational. This is a mother-and-child unit consisting of obstetrics, neonatal critical care, paediatric, paediatric high care and critical care units, facilitating an integrated approach to caring for the next generation. It will be followed by the completion of renovations to the reception area at the end of September this year. The hospital will then move to its next phase of construction, which will include upgrades to the emergency centre. The hospital promises to provide temporary facilities to continue with the services, expected to be opened along with the reception area next month.Clive Lake, hospital general manager of Mediclinic Constantiaberg, says: “We would like to thank our valued patients for their support during this challenging time. We realise that the improvements may bring a level of noise and inconvenience during the process, but we do believe the finished product, estimated to be completed by the end of 2019, will bring additional value to families using our facility.”The hospital was first opened in March 1988 and has since become a key asset to the surrounding community. “Over the years we have implemented a number of tools to listen to and understand the needs of our community. Much of the planned upgrades is as a result of this feedback,” Lake says.
