In recognition of October’s Mental Health Month, Liberty Promenade Mall and Cape Mental Health are hosting a family kite day on Thursday 25 October.

On the day, from 14:30 to 16:00, residents are invited to fly kites with international and local kite experts who are in town for the 24th Cape Town International Kite Festival to be held in Muizenberg.

All are welcome to bring their own kites, or fly one of the Liberty Promenade kites.

Entry is free and there will be treats for the children and awesome prizes to be won.

“We want to share the magic of Africa’s biggest kite festival with the people of Mitchell’s Plain,” says Brenda Bibby, general manager of the Liberty Promenade Mall. “Flying kites is good for mind and body. With mental illnesses on the rise, we want to encourage local people to participate in activities that improve wellbeing. We also want to show our support to Cape Mental Health and the good work they do in our area with adults and children affected by mental disabilities.”
