The biggest names in international comedy are heading to South Africa and Cape Town is part of the line-up.

US-based Dwayne Perkins, Ruben Paul and Malawian-born UK-based Daliso Chaponda will join some of South Africa’s most loved comics on 14 August at the Cape Town ICC for the Blacks Only Joke Appropriation Without Compensation.

Now in its 15th year, this year’s Blacks Only Comedy Show is said to be th biggest and boldest ever.

Perkins’ one-hour comedy special debuted on Netflix to rave reviews. He earned a spot in today’s elite clss of stand-up comics with several appearances on Comedy Central, Conan and his recurring piece on The Jay Leno Show, Great White Moments in Black History.

Speaking to People’s Post earlier this week, Chaponda said he was excited to be part of this year’s line-up.

“I have worked with Riaah Moosa and David Kau before, and I am excited to be included in this year’s show,” he said.

“I must say, this will not be the first time I will be performing in Cape Town. I performed at the Baxter theatre for a month a few years ago and I loved it. It will be great to come back to Cape Town when I am more established as a comedian.”

Chaponda said he will tackle some of the events happening around the world.

“I feel that other comics will be talking more about South Africa, so I will touch on American events and Zimbabwean Elections. I will also talk a bit about my life; which has been bizarre lately.”

“People will have a fun time on the night.”

South Africa’s most loved comics who will form part of the amazing line-up include Celeste Ntuli, Nina Hastie, Riaad Moosa and Kagiso Mogadi.

Tickets start at R275 and are available on Computicket.

Two People's Post readers stand a chance to win double tickets to watch the Blacks Only comedy show.
