Woodlands residents now have their own organisation ready and able to raise municipal concerns.

The Woodlands Ratepayers’ Association has officially been launched and the committee is already hard at work dealing with complaints on behalf of the community.

Officially elected at a meeting on Thursday 20 October, the committee members have made several strides in getting acquainted with their mandate.

Residents elected Clarence Human as chairperson, Isaac Hermanus as deputy chairperson, Junaid Mcleod as secretary and Merna Robertson as treasurer. The members further co-opted Kaamillah Ismail, Nadia Petersen and Charmaine Human.

Resident Washiela Harris coordinated the election and initiated the establishment of the organisation.

The association’s vision is to serve the community, care for the elderly, fight crime and rid the Woodlands community of drugs and other social problems.

The committee will host its last meeting at the end of this month.V The meeting will be held at the Woodlands Community Centre on Tuesday 29 November at 19:00. Call Clarence Human on 073 180 3123.
