Community safety boost

2017-10-31 06:00

Members of the Muslim and Christian faith as well as other faith-based organisations, hosted a community safety awareness initiative at Phillans Park in Hanover Park this past weekend.

Organisations in support of this programme included Islamic Relief South Africa, the Pink Ladies organisations, the Hanover Park Society, Moms Move for Justice and the Alcardo Andrews Foundation.

The community safety awareness programme started on Friday at 18:00 and included a motivational talk from religious leaders, an address by the ward councillor, the community policing forum and the Newfields Neighbourhood Watch.

Children also had the chance to play freely without the threat of violence throughout Saturday’s programme, and enjoyed a variety of activities which included jumping castles, face-painting and sports.
