Police have arrested two men in connection with a business robbery in Rocklands.

Mitchell’s Plain police responded to a robbery at a tuck shop on the corner of Mars and Aquarius streets on Thursday last week.

A delivery truck of a business in Caravelle Street was busy with deliveries at the tuck shop when the driver was approached by two men.

One of the men was armed with a firearm and managed to get hold of a large sum of money.

The men also tried to rob the tuck shop but failed and fled the scene on foot.

Officers of the Mitchell’s Plain police station were patrolling nearby when they heard about the robbery.

The two constables received a description of the robbers. They realised it fit the description of two men they had searched earlier.

The men had nothing in their possession at the first encounter.

The officers immediately established a manhunt which led to a house in Celebes Street.

The officers found the men, aged 18 and 20 years, there. On searching them, the officers recovered an imitation firearm and an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspects were arrested.

They face charges of armed robbery and attempted robbery.
