A 46-year-old man was arrested with dagga after swift action by police led them to his home in Hanover Park.

Philippi police spokesperson Lance Goliath says the arrest was made last Wednesday at about noon.

“Police received a tip-off from the public about drugs being delivered. Police acted swiftly and proceeded to a house in Erie Court, Hanover Park. When searching the house police found dagga in plastic bags with an estimated street value of R30 000,” Goliath says.

The man appeared in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court on a charge of illegal possession of drugs.

“This huge drug bust added another blow to the fight against gangsters and their criminal activities,” Goliath says.

Several other drug dealers were identified, as well as the property of self-proclaimed gang leaders in Hanover Park.
