Councillor Aslam Cassiem handed over much-needed safety and patrol kits to seven neighbourhood watch groups in his ward this month.

The items, which form part of the ward 46 allocation, included 55 security jackets, five fire extinguishers, five car spotlights, 10 spotlights, five bicycles with pumps and helmets and five first aid kits. All items were divided equally among the seven groups.

Cassiem says although one of the groups decided they didn’t have time to accept the gifts and another decided to return the items because they were not happy with what they had received, matters have since been resolved.

All distributions were made last Saturday to Rylands, Gatesville, Greenhaven, Primrose Park, Surrey Estate, Habibia and Newfields neighbourhood watches.
