Eight people were arrested after a couple were robbed in Wynberg on Wednesday 18 May.

Police say it is alleged that the victim and her husband parked a red Hyundai Getz at Lester Road in front of Idols at 03:45.

The woman’s husband dropped two men off, and as he got out of the car, an unknown man pointed a firearm at him.

Five men and women came to the car and opened the passenger door. They then hit the woman with their fists, pulled her by her hair and kicked her. One of the men allegedly sexually assulated her.

They stole a suitcase with clothes, a leather bag, sling bag with underwear, toiletry bag, make-up purse, personal books, shoes, two Nokia cell phones, a tool bag, an iPad, a wallet, R300 cash, a cheque book and clothing cards, necklace, wedding ring, CDs, ID book and passport, a Guess bag and an IPad charger – all to the value of R20 000.

The arrested suspects appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Friday 20 May for robbery with a firearm and assault.
