Crime prevention initiatives continue despite lockdown, with Mitchell’s Plain police recording continued successes.

In a recent bust on Sunday 3 May at 10:00, officers attached to the Mitchell’s Plain proactive team were busy with crime prevention duties when they received information about a man in possession of a firearm in Tennis Street, Beacon Valley.

When police apprehended and searched the suspect, they found a black 9mm Llama pistol and a magazine without any ammunition in his possession.

Police arrested the 30-year-old man on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm.

The suspect is a gangster and has since appeared in court.

Mitchell’s Plain station commander Brig Cass Goolam says police will maintain their zero-tolerance approach in the combatting and investigation of crime despite the pandemic.
