V Rocklands: On Friday 16 March at 11:30, Mitchell’s Plain police officers were executing a search warrant at Cuckoo Street home and while they were busy searching the home, officers received a tip-off from the community that firearms were being kept on the field nearby. Officers then went to the field to search for them and found a silver revolver with a black handle covered with black sellotape. The gun was found buried. No arrests have been made and the investigation continues.

V Eastridge: Police were called to the Mitchell’s Plain day hospital on Wednesday 14 March at 21:20. Police were informed of a man who died from a gunshot and declared dead on arrival. The 24-year-old victim sustained a single gunshot wound to his chest. The motive for the incident and the circumstances are unknown at this stage.

V Eastridge: Police confiscated a CZ 9mm short firearm in Hull Street on Monday 12 March at 11:30. Police received information about a firearm in Hull Street. Police searched the vicinity and found the gun in a drain. The gun had a loaded with 10 bullets. The serial number had been filled off. No arrests have been made.

V Eastridge: On Monday 12 March at 00:50 Mitchell’s Plain police received a complaint of a shooting in Ravine Street and saw the body of a 37-year-old man who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body. It is alleged that the man was with friends when members of a rival gang came up and started shooting at them. Police recovered nine cartridges at the scene. The motive is gang related. V Westridge: Police found the body of a 48-year-old man on a field near Grooteschuur Road. The man had sustained a stab wound to his chest. It is alleged that he had come from a nearby nightclub. A knife was recovered at the scene. No arrests have been made and the motive is unknown. Police are investigating a case of murder. V Eastridge: Police are seeking information on a shooting on the corners of Merriman and Botha streets on Sunday 11 March at 23:15 where a 20-year-old man was killed. The motive is unknown and no arrests have been made. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the investigating officer Detective Sergeant Monolitho Haywood of Mitchell’s Plain Serious Violent Crimes unit at 082 777 8076.

V Rocklands: Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found at Mnandi Beach on Sunday 11 March at 08:45. The man sustained stab wounds to his body and head and was dressed in a jeans, brown leather shoes, black jockey underpants and brown t-shirt. The motive is unknown and no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is urged to call Detective Sergeant Monolitho Haywood on 082 777 8076.

V Tafelsig: Police confiscated 200 units of drugs in Moira Street on Sunday 11 March at 10:00. Officers were doing stop and searches when they saw a man walking down the street. The manput down a bag when he saw the police van. Police searched the bag and found 104 straws of heroin, 31 bankies of tik and 65 half mandrax tablets wrapped in foil. The 25-year-old man was arrested and the drugs were seized.

V Eastridge: In the early hours of Friday 9 March, police held an operation in Eastridge. During the operation 19 houses were searched in Malva. Bitou, Olive and Sourfig streets. Further information was received during the operation which led to a Malva Street house where it was alleged that drugs were being stored. The house was searched and the officers seized R75 220 cash. An enquiry case was opened to determine if the money was derived as the proceeds of crime.

V Rocklands: On Friday 9 March at 09:30 police searched an Albatros Street home after a tip-off that drugs were being sold. A 54-year-old woman was searched and 24 units of heroin were found in her possession.

V Rocklands: On Friday 9 March at 08:00, police were busy with crime prevention duties in Viscount Street when officers noticed a suspicious man. He was searched and police found 20 full mandrax tablets and 10 small plastic bags of tik in his jacket. The 18-year-old was arrested.

V Beacon Valley: Police arrested a 33-year-old man on Thursday 8 March at 19:30 while executing crime prevention duties in Epsom Street. Officers saw a man scratching on the ground. The man was searched and police found 77 packets of tik.

V Beacon Valley: A 28-year-old man was arrested on Thursday 8 March at 16:30 in Cadillac Street when police found him in possession of 40 straws of heroin.
