V Eastridge: Police are investigating a murder that took place in Sourfig Street on Monday 2 April at 20:40. Officers were called to the scene and found the body of a 24-year-old man who had been shot in the head and leg. It is alleged the man was in the street when three unknown men came running up the street shooting at him. The motive is gang related. Anyone with information is asked to call the investigating officer, Detective Constable Morgan de Bruin, on 082 777 8076.

V Beacon Valley: Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide following an accident on Monday 2 April at 17:50 in which a motorcyclist was killed. It is alleged a silver VW Golf collided with a motorcycle on the corner of Trampoline Way and AZ Berman Drive. The 48-year-old motorcyclist died. Police had to remove the driver who was allegedly threatened by bystanders.

V Tafelsig: Two teenage girls were shot on Sunday 1 April at 15:50 in Ruwenzori Street when they were caught in the alleged crossfire of rival gangs. Police say a 16-year-old girl was shot in her left foot and arm and a 14-year-old girl was shot in her right thigh. Police are investigating two cases of attempted murder. Anyone with information on the incident is urged to call Detective Sergeant Billy Burrows on 082 777 8076.

V Portlands: On Saturday 31 March at 20:45, Mitchell’s Plain police responded to a complaint of a shooting in Spine Road and found two victims. A 31-year-old man had been shot in the chest and died at the scene. A 28-year-old man had been shot in the leg and was taken for treatment. It is alleged that three suspects approached the victims in an unidentified white car. Two suspects got out and fired multiple shots. The motive for the attack is unknown and no arrests have been made. Police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder. Anyone with information is urged to call Detective Sergeant Billy Burrows on 082 777 8076.

V Tafelsig: Police arrested a 30-year-old man on Friday 30 March at 14:30 while on patrol in Erica Way. The officers spotted a suspicious white VW Golf and stopped and searched the car. Officers then discovered the vehicle had been stolen in Athlone. The car was impounded and the man was arrested.

V Strandfontein: On Tuesday 27 March at 12:15, officers were alerted to attempted house break-ins in the vicinity of Strandfontein Village. A description of the suspected vehicle was circulated on social media to inform relevant neighbourhood watch groups while Strandfontein Police Station commander, Captain David Malong, and Constable Mongezelleli Mtyutyu immediately patrolled the area of Bayview. The area is a hotspot for a “crowbar gang” of house robbers. The officers spotted a Hyundai parked in Nautilus Road. As officers approached, the driver hooted and two suspects ran out of a property past the police vehicle. The Hyundai then sped off. One suspect was caught and another suspect was arrested on Baden Powell Drive by Sergeant Charleton Delis and Constable Mpho Mdau. Some of the stolen property was recovered.
