V Parkwood: Grassy Park police arrested a 27-year-old man for the possession of drugs, resisting arrest and defeating the ends of justice last Tuesday. According to Grassy Park police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Wynita Kleinsmith, police received information regarding drugs being sold at the corner of Blackbird Avenue and Parkers Walk in Parkwood. The suspect was found with five packets of tik when police arrested him after he initially refused to be searched, attempting to bribe officers with R1000. Police also confiscated the money he tried to use to bribe them with.

Officers under the command of Captain Ashley Petersen acted on information received of a registered scrapyard dealer in Dove Road who was alleged to be selling drugs from the premises. After a search warrant was obtained, police searched the entire premises. A black bag was found in one of the “hokkies” and a large quantity of Mandrax tablets and tik with an estimated value of R40 000 was found. The suspects appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court last week. People reporting crime and criminals could be eligible for a reward, police say.
