V Beacon Valley: Police arrested a 55-year-old man on Tuesday 5 June at 09:45 when officers of the National Intervention Unit were busy with crime prevention patrols in Cadillac and Chrysler streets. Police noticed four men running toward them and when they spotted the police they ran in the opposite direction. Police gave chase and caught one who had fallen. Officers searched the man and found a Z88 9mm Parabellum with a magazine loaded with 15 bullets. The serial number had been filed off. He was arrested and the gun was confiscated.

V Rocklands: On Monday 4 June at 13:45, Mitchell’s Plain police were busy with patrols in Kitty Hawk Street when officers saw a man acting suspiciously. Officers stopped and searched the man and found 18 .38 calibre bullets in his possession. The bullets were confiscated and the 34-year-old suspected gangster was arrested.

V Tafelsig: While on patrol at 10:00 in Pyrenees Street on Monday 4 June, police saw a man acting suspiciously when he spotted police. Officers stopped and searched him and found a black 9mm firearm and a magazine loaded with six bullets and another bullet in his possession. The 39-year-old suspected gangster was arrested.

V Tafelsig: A 23-year-old suspected gangster was arrested in Banhoek Street on Sunday 3 June at 15:00. Police followed up on a tip-off of a person in possession of a gun and at the scene saw a man fitting the description. Police stopped and searched him and found a black Norinco 9mm firearm and a magazine loaded with four 9mm bullets. The suspect was also found wearing a white bulletproof vest.

V Beacon Valley: On Friday 8 June at 21:00, Mitchell’s Plain Police Crime Prevention Unit officers were busy with crime prevention duties in Peugeot Street when they stopped and searched five men. The men were stopped and searched as they appeared suspicious. While searching the suspects, Police officers found a Glock 9mm firearm without a serial number, along with a magazine loaded with 15 bullets in their possession. The suspects face a charge of possession of a firearm without a licence and additional charges relating to unlawful possession of ammunition. The suspects are aged between 14 and 24 and are suspected gangsters. The suspects are expected to appear in court soon on related charges­.
