V Beacon Valley: The Mitchell’s Plain Firearms, Liquor and Secondhand Goods Unit executed a search warrant in Trampoline Street on Friday 15 June after receiving information that liquor was being sold illegally without a valid liquor licence. At 11:00 the officers found 97 litres of liquor at the house. The suspect, aged 43 years, was arrested.

V Special operation: On Friday 22 June from 05:30 to 13:00, the Mitchell’s Plain police station officers participated in joint operations with law enforcement agencies, including Vispol, POPS, Railway Police, Law Enforcement and Metro Police. The operations were focused on the clamping down on gang violence and drugs in the areas of Beacon Valley, Eastridge and Tafelsig. The execution of search warrants, tracing of wanted suspects, high density patrols and visible policing, as well as stop and search operations formed part of their efforts. Some of the successes reported included four liquor premises and eight drug houses searched, 102 persons searched, four vehicles tested and two vehicle check points executed. Three traffic fines were issued to the value of R5000 and two people were arrested for possession of drugs and a warrant of arrest was executed on one person.
