V Grassy Park: Police officers arrested two men in Grassy Park on Wednesday for the illegal possession of drugs. Grassy Park police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Wynita Kleinsmith, says their crime prevention unit noticed a suspicious-looking Ford Bantam bakkie in Klip Road while on patrol. Officers gave chase, stopped the bakkie and found 50g of tik with an estimated street value of R10 000 in the 44-year-old driver’s possession, while they also found 100 Mandrax tablets with a street value of R4000 on the 32-year-old passenger, explains Kleinsmith. “Both of the male suspects are from Ottery flats. They are affiliated to a gang and were arrested on different cases on charges of dealing in or alternatively possession of drugs,” says Kleinsmith.

V Grassy Park: Grassy Park’s crime prevention group found a 31-year-old man from Uganda with counterfeit money in Italian Road. Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Wynita Kleinsmith, says officers were looking at a white Mercedes Benz, which sped off when the driver of the car saw the marked police vehicle. Kleinsmith adds that police found counterfeit R100 notes in the car’s boot after they stopped and searched the suspect. The suspect was arrested on charges of possession of counterfeit money,.

V Lotus River: A 28-year-old man was arrested in Lotus River on Wednesday morning for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. Grassy Park police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Wynita Kleinsmith, says the officers cornered the man when driving down Page Road in Eagle Park. “Officers observed the man acting nervously, and when he saw the marked police vehicle he started to run. Officers pursued the man and when catching up with him, they searched him and found a firearm,” says Kleinsmith. A black Glock, a magazine and 16 rounds of ammunition, of which eight are hollow-point rounds, were seized, Kleinsmith adds.
