V Ottery: Grassy Park Police Station’s crime prevention unit arrested two people in Ottery on Thursday 6 February for the possession of ammunition. According to Grassy Park Police Station spokesperson, Captain Wynita Kleinsmith, a plastic bag with 17 rounds of R5 ammunition was found on a field in Kevin Road. “Station commander Colonel Dawood Laing says police will put their focus on crime heavily dependent on police action and presence and thank the members for their commitment and hard work in ensuring that the ammunition that is used in gang activities and murders is confiscated and off the road,” said Kleinsmith. Anyone with information on crime can call Crime Stop on 08600 10111. All information will be treated as highly confidential.

V Fairways: Police are seeking the public’s help in obtaining information that will lead to the arrest of suspects linked to a house robbery in Fairways on Monday 11 February. Grassy Park police spokesperson Captain Wynita Kleinsmith said the suspect knocked on the door of the house. A woman, thinking it was her husband, opened the door, but three men forced their way into the house, threatening the homeowner with a firearm. The men fled the scene in a white Volkswagen Polo after taking an undisclosed amount of cash, jewellery, a television, PlayStation, DVD player and toolbox. “Station commander Colonel Dawood Laing asks the community to be vigilant at all times, to not lose your cool, do not threaten or challenge the perpetrators. Get as much information as possible without posing a threat. Phone the police as soon as possible after the robbers have left. Crime and criminals can be reported, and a reward could be received by the reporter,” said Kleinsmith. Contact Detective-Sergeant Clifton Slinger on 021 700 3950 or 079 303 7700 with information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects.
