Crime wrap: Retreat

  • Retreat: Police officers confiscated 30 mandrax tablets on Friday 3 May at about 18:15, when they were patrolling in Mountain Road. The suspect was a 35-year-old resident of Overcome Heights who was apprehended and arrested on charges of dealing in drugs, and detained at the Muizenberg Police Station.

  • Seawinds: A large quantity of dagga was found at a residence in St Patrick Street, on Saturday 4 May at about 15:55. Police officers were on duty when they received information about the drugs. They searched the premises and located 46 small bankies of dagga, 15 medium bankies, two parcels of dagga and a large bag of compressed dagga, which were confiscated. A 22-year-old resident was arrested on charges of dealing drugs and was detained at Muizenberg Police Station.

  • Cafda: A 35-year-old man was fatally wounded after being shot in Gordon Searle Street on Monday 6 May at about 01:50. The motive for this shooting incident is unknown. The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested. Anyone with any information about any shooting incidents are requested to contact Steenberg police on 021 702 9000 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

  • Lavender Hill: In Parkin Court, Lavender Hill, a 22-year-old man was shot at 00:15 Monday 6 May. The victim died on the scene. The circumstances surrounding the shooting incident are under investigation by Steenberg police. The motive for the shooting is unknown. Suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested.

  • Hillview: On Wednesday 8 May at about 00:10, police officers from Muizenberg Police Station were on foot patrol in Hillview when a suspicious man attempted to evade them. The officers apprehended him and found him to be in possession of 17 large packets of tik, 12 small packets of tik and 19 half mandrax tablets. The suspect, a 35-year-old resident of Village Heights, was detained at Muizenberg Police Station on charges of dealing narcotics.
