  • Westridge: A-64-year-old man was found dead by Mitchell’s Plain police on Monday 20 May. This was after they received a complaint of an accident at Eisleben Road at 19:30. When they arrived, they saw a green car that had allegedly knocked over a pedestrian. They declared him dead on the scene due to sustaining head and upper leg injuries. Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
  • Westridge: A man suspected to be 30-years-old was found dead at 08:50 last Tuesday. Mitchell’s Plain police received a complaint of sudden death at Dagbreek Street. When they arrived at the scene, they were shown the body of the deceased who sustained stab wounds on his chest. It was reported the man had an argument with the suspect and was stabbed. The deceased is allegedly a homeless person and has not yet been identified. No arrests have been made and police are investigating a case of murder.
  • Eastridge: A 21-year-old man was arrested at 17:40 last Wednesday and appeared in court on Friday 31 May on charges of possession of drugs. He was arrested by the Mitchell’s Plain Crime Prevention Unit members who were busy with stop-and-go searches. They stopped him at Hartbees Street and found a bag containing 20 big stops of dagga, 20 small stops of dagga and 20 half mandrax tablets in his possession.
  • Eastridge: A 20-year-old man was arrested last Wednesday by Mitchell’s Plain Crime Prevention Unit members. At 14:45 officers were busy with stop-and-go searches when they stopped a suspicious man in Bietou Street. They searched him and found a bag with 27 stops of dagga, a bankie of dagga and 10 whole mandrax tablets in his possession. He was arrested and appeared in court last Friday.
  • Tafelsig: A 20-year-old man was arrested by the Mitchell’s Plain Cluster Crime Prevention Unit members last Wednesday. Officers were busy with stop-and-go searches in Garcia Street. They found 18 straws containing heroin in his possession. He appeared in court last Friday.
