Tafelsig: A 22-year-old man was arrested on Monday 1 July at 06:30 and faces charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition. This was after members of National Office Deployment were busy with crime prevention duties in Tafelberg Street. They stopped a man who reportedly acted suspiciously when he saw them. He allegedly had a Smith and Wesson revolver with six live rounds. He will appear in court soon. Beacon Valley: A 59-year-old man was arrested on Friday 5 July at 17:00 and he is facing a charge of dealing in liquor without a license. The suspect was arrested while members of the Mitchell’s Plain Crime Prevention Unit were executing search warrants. They searched a house in Hengelaar Street. They found 40 beers (750ml) of different brands and five 660ml ciders. They confiscated a total of 33 litres of alcohol. The man is expected to appear in court soon.Eastridge: Members of the Mitchell’s Plain Crime Prevention Unit arrested a 22-year-old man on Friday 5 July at 21:30 for possession of an imitation firearm. He was arrested during a routine patrol. The man allegedly pointed community members with a firearm in Ironwood Street. The suspect is expected to appear in court soonEastridge: A 20-year-old man was arrested on Sunday 7 June at 18:30 for shooting three people and left them wounded. He faces three charges of attempted murder. This was after Mitchell’s Plain received a complaint of a shooting in Palestrina Street. When they got to the scene they discovered that three people, a girl (16) and two men aged 19 and 39 had been shot. The victims were reportedly walking in the street when they were approached by two men who started shooting at them. The other suspect is still at large. The suspect in police custody will appear in court soon.
