  • Hillview: On Tuesday 16 July, Muizenberg police received information about the storage of firearms at a residence. At 22:15, police searched the bungalow and found a 9mm semi-automatic Browning pistol and eight rounds of ammunition. The two occupants of the bungalow were arrested on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and the illegal possession of ammunition. Both suspects, aged 27 and 29, residents of Hillview and Village Heights, were detained at Muizenberg Police Station.

  • Hillview: Muizenberg police received information of alleged gang suspects, carrying firearms in Lebombo Street on Wednesday 17 July. At 22:15 police approached the street and noted two suspicious men who, after seeing the police, attempted to evade them. Once apprehended, one suspect was found to be in possession of two 9mm semi-automatic firearms and was arrested.

  • Muizenberg: On Wednesday 17 July during various operations, 21 people were arrested for possession of narcotics, seven people for dealing in narcotics, one for housebreaking and theft, eight for shoplifting, two for possession of a dangerous weapon, three for selling liquor without a license, two for malicious damage to property, four for assault, one for drunken driving, one under the Sea Fisheries Act, three for outstanding warrants of arrest, 12 for theft, two for theft out of a motor vehicle, one for trespassing, one for interfering with a police official, one for possession of stolen property, one for intimidation, two for crimen injuria, three for house robbery, one for fraud, five for domestic violence, two for dealing in pangolin scales, four for the possession of illegal firearm and ammunition and two people were arrested for murder.

  • Hillview: On Thursday 18 July, Ocean View detectives searched a premises in Carnation Road and found a 49-year-old man in possession of 20kg of Abalone. It is estimated that it has a street value of R50 000. He was arrested and appeared in the Simon’s Town Magistrates Court last Friday.
