  • Eastridge: A 32-year-old man was arrested at 23:30 on Sunday 21 July by Mitchell’s Plain police while they were busy with crime prevention duties at Lindsay Crescent. They received information about a man who was in possession of a firearm. When the police searched him, they found an imitation firearm in his possession. He is a gang member and he appeared in court on Monday 22 July on charges of possession of imitation firearm.

  • Eastridge: A 22-year-old man was brought in for questioning at 19:00 on Saturday 20 July by Mitchell’s Plain police who responded to a complaint of a shooting at Klipspringer Street. When they arrived at the scene, they found the lifeless body of a man lying on the road. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his chest and back. Police found four cartridges and one projectile on the scene. They are investigating a case of murder.

  • Tafelsig: No arrest has been made following a shooting that happened at 15:23 on Saturday 20 July at Spitskop Street. Mitchell’s Plain police received a complaint and when they got to the scene they found the lifeless body of a man lying on the road and 17 cartridges. He had been shot in the head, chest and left leg. The motive is gang-related and the police is investigating a case of murder.

  • CBD: A 29-year-old man was arrested at 19:00 on Saturday 20 July by Mitchell’s Plain police while they were busy with crime prevention duties. They noticed a suspicious vehicle, a white Toyota Conquest, and detected the registration number (CA 649-213) to have been incorrect. They discovered that the car had been stolen in the Mitchell’s Plain. The suspect faced charges of possession of stolen vehicle in court on Monday 22 July.

  • Town Centre: A 37-year-old man was arrested at 14:00 on Friday 19 July by Mitchell’s Plain Crime Prevention Unit members. While they were busy with crime prevention duties, they received information about a person selling drugs at a barbershop. When they searched the suspect, they found 80 heroine units in his possession. He appeared in court on Monday 22 July on a charge of being in possession of heroin.

  • Tafelsig: A 32-year-old man was arrested at 19:30 on Friday 19 July by Mitchell’s Plain police. They received a complaint about a shooting in Platterkloof Street. When they got there, they found a 33-year-old man, lifeless, shot in the neck. He was apparently walking on the road when he allegedly got shot by two unknown men who then fled the scene. One was later caught and the other one is still at large. The motive is possibly gang-related. Police are still investigating a case of murder.
