Hillview: Muizenberg police officers received information of alleged gang suspects carrying firearms in Lebombo Street on Wednesday 17 July. The police apprehended one suspect at a residence in the street and found him to be in possession of two firearms. The suspect, a 23-year-old resident of Hillview, was arrested on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and the possession of a prohibited firearm and unlicensed ammunition. The suspect had been arrested previously and was out on bail.Lavender Hill: On Monday 22 July, members of the Anti-Gang Unit arrested a 22-year-old woman with an unlicensed 357 revolver and 60 rounds of ammunition in Chapel Road. The suspects are expected to make court appearances in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court and the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court once they have been charged.Lavender Hill: Steenberg police confirmed that a case of attempted murder was opened for investigation after a 32-year-old woman was shot and wounded in Shepherd Way on Friday 26 July at about 22:00. The woman was taken to hospital in a private vehicle for medical attention. The motive for the shooting is gang-related. The suspect fled the scene and is yet to be arrested.Steenberg: On Thursday 1 August, at approximately 13:30, an undercover Muizenberg police officer noticed suspicious activity at the Military Road shopping centre. The officer approached a 16-year-old boy and found him to be in possession of five 100g packets of tik, with an estimated street value of R150 000. The Steenberg resident was arrested and detained at Muizenberg Police Station on charges of dealing in narcotics. He appeared in the Muizenberg Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
