Critical injury in R300 collision

2016-09-06 06:00

A 51-year-old man was left critically injured on Thursday morning after a bakkie and motorbike collided on the R310 (Baden Powell Drive) near Mitchell’s Plain.

An ER24 paramedic on his way to work came across the incident at 05:20, says ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring.

“On arrival, paramedics found the man lying in the road next to his bike. A bakkie was parked just a short distance away,” says Meiring. “On assessment, paramedics found that the man had sustained numerous injuries to both his legs, leaving him in a critical condition.”

Paramedics treated the patient and provided him with numerous advanced life support interventions.

Once treated, the patient was transported to a military hospital for urgent treatment.

The driver of the bakkie fortunately escaped injury.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
