Culinary school hosts open day

Capsicum Culinary Studio, a chef school in Salt River, will host a Cape Town Open Day on Saturday 28 October from 09:00 to noon. Aspiring chefs are invited to spend a day observing and learning about being a working chef.

Prospective students will be offered a chance to interact with professional chefs who are based at the school.

Guests are advised to dress up in halloween extravaganza attire to stand a chance of winning a spot prize.

Charleen Davids, campus head, says: “Open Day is an opportunity for those considering a career as a chef or pastry chef to come and visit the school, see what we do, ask questions and have some fun. This year we want people to give in to their inner zombie and come dressed to scare us. And in exchange we will be handing out a prize for the best dressed as well as making sure that no-one goes home hungry.”

She says on the day, halloween-inspired creation samples will be available. These will include brain cake, bloody cupcakes, squid ink pasta, finger sliders and slashing saucers.

All students interested in a culinary career are welcome.
