Dance for All (DFA) is gearing up to present Concerto la Danza, a plot capturing the collaboration of dance with live music, directed by Allison Hendricks and performed by some of Cape Town’s finest young musicians.

The youngsters from the Cape Music Institute with musical direction by Camilo Lombard will perform at the Artscape Theatre on Saturday 18 August at 14:15 and 20:00.

With live music presenting very little artifice, the audience becomes one with these two captivating art forms.

The production will display how these two art forms collaborate by bringing together two institutions, both of whose primary focus is on creating platforms and opportunities for youngsters, in a joint venture.

The plot taps into the lives of three characters – that which they hide behind, the masks which they show the world and a life which they once had, or long for.

Concerto la Danza aims to offer a wonderful evening celebrating the work of both DFA and the Cape Music Institute with students ranging from 11 to 23 years of age

A guest performance by the Taare Dance Company with choreography by company director Ahneesh Valodia and choreographer Maxwell Rani adds some vibrancy to the production,

Dance for All, in its 27th year, is happy to join CMI, illustrating the ongoing growth and development of these institutions.

V Tickets for the 20:00 production are R150 through Computicket or Dial-a-Seat on 021 421 7695. Tickets to the 14:15 matinee show are available for block bookings at R60.
