‘Display house numbers’

2018-06-05 06:00

Lansdowne police are calling on residents to display their house numbers facing the street, to make it easy to see.

Station commander, Colonel Shawn van Wyk, says this will assist safety, security and emergency services trying to identify the exact location of an incident.

“Residents need to understand that by not providing these numbers on their properties, it causes major delays in case of an emergency. Police are called out all the time, and because we are out looking for addresses, we end up arriving late at another emergency or case attendancem,” he says.

He also pointed to a bylaw that enforces this. “The watch is ticking and we need your assistance in this regard as officials struggle and reaction time is longer. By having the numbers up we can ensure speedy assistance from emergency officials.”
